LONG POST! I have got a lot to say!!
Sorry everyone! I know I haven't been posting for a long time, I've just been so busy with skating and my school work that I haven't had a lot of time to post on this blog. But I'm going to get back into the habit and tell you what's been going on! OK, so a couple of weeks ago I had a competition and it was at a rink called Strongsville. I was so excited because the previous weeks before that competition I took out my harder jumps like the double lutz and double flip, and now I just have an axel, a flip-loop combination, an axel-double toe loop combination, a double salchow and ending with a double toe loop.
Sorry everyone I haven't posted for a while, I've been really busy! Just a little over a week ago, we just got back from a seven day cruise in the Eastern Caribbean. Anyway I want to fill you in on what I got and what happened at my competition that was on Saturday. So we got to the rink about an hour earlier than we needed to. I was competing against two of my friends from the rink that I skate at. I was feeling confident and excited. Just earlier in the day (about 9:00) I ran through my program at our rink and it was great! I was landing all of my jumps and my spins were good too. So once we got the competition I was feeling really good and I was ready to win. When we got to the front desk we turned in my music to the lady behind the counter, she told me I was going to go last out of all six girls. I hate going last, I get more nervous going last because, all of my other competitors have all ready gone and their feeling good that it's over with, and I still have to go! Finally, once I got my skates on, I went out to where I was going to be competing. It wasn't a very big rink, I was really happy for that, I get really nervous competing with so many people in the stands. Someone on the loudspeaker called my group to warm-up, I did all of my jumps and spins again. My double flip and my double lutz (the two hardest jumps) felt a little shaky but at least I was landing them. That was really all my mom (my coach) wanted me to do. Just be able to land all of the jumps in competition. After five minutes the warm-up ended. When it was my friend's turn to go she had a great program except for two stumbles on both of her axels. My other friend had an almost perfect program! Then it was my turn to go, I stepped on the ice feeling a little nervous. Once they called out my name I took my spot and waited for my music to begin. To sum it up, I landed all of my jumps in the program. I landed my double flip and double lutz, but they were so shaky and the landing just wasn't good. Then I landed all of my other jumps pretty nicely and finished with my flying camel-back sit combination spin. I gave a curtsy to the judges and skated off the ice. I felt pretty good about my performance other than those two beginning jumps. I thought I might get in the top three since I landed the double flip and double lutz! But when the scores came up I was shocked. They placed me 6 out of 7! My friend who stumbled twice got fifth and my other friend who practically did a perfect program got third. I was disappointed but I knew this was the first competition of the season and I was moving up to a new level. My mom and I figured out that the judges would rather see clean, high, easier jumps in the program than seeing hard, OK, jumps. So after we left, my dad took us all out for some lunch to a Lebanese restaurant and then we went home, played pool in our basement, and some Guitar Hero. So all in all I had a really good and fun day, even though I placed 6. I didn't really worry that much about it. At least I landed all of my jumps in the program and that 's all my mom wanted me to do anyway!
Just a quick heads up, my syncrho team will be doing a performance at a big ice rink called the Q on Thursday! We will be skating in the period break of a hockey game. I am super excited and I will post all about it on Thursday or maybe Friday because It'll probably be late Thursday night and I will be really tired! OK that's all I have to say! I'll post again soon!
We just got back from one of my dads business trips to Indianapolis, Indiana. And the drive wasn't bad, it was only about 5 hours away! If you think that's long, on our way out to Seattle, we had to be drive 14-15 hours in a day. (BORING!!) Anyway our hotel was awesome! It was so big! It was, (I think) one of the biggest hotels we have ever stayed in! When you think of Indianapolis, you probably don't think of everyone begging to stay another day... Or maybe a another week, but that's exactly what we all did! Everyone really wanted to stay a lot longer! We did so many awesome things there, we played miniature glow golf, (who plays miniature glow golf?? That's so cool!) we ate at some really good restaurants, and we actually went to the mall and I got some really cute new boots (my other one's are so old you can actually see my toes through them!!) So we had a lot of fun, but I still, deep down, just really wanted to get back on the ice and start doing all of my doubles! But all in all we had an AWESOME time and I am already looking forward to going again! Oh and my the way, synchro is canceled tomorrow, because there is a competition that a whole bunch of people will be going to, (I'm not competing there.) But thankfully there is still club ice that we will be able to go to a little later in the day so I can get some skating in!!
Today was awesome! Today I got up at 8:30 to skate. I was really tired but I got up anyway, (I shouldn't be tired at 8:30!) So lately my dad has been taking all of us to the gym. We've been working out so hard! Everything is so sore right now! But working out has given me a BIG boost to my skating. We've only been working out for a week or two but I can already see the improvement! My jumps are so much higher and faster! (They could always be better) but they are a lot better than usual! So today at the freestyle I landed all of my double jumps in my program! It was the best run through I have ever done! My next competition is in a little more than a month. I am very confident and ready to compete! I will be going today to the public skate and will be meeting one of my skating friends there! We'll try to be focused and get a lot of good skating done! (Instead of goofing off!) Post more soon!!
So of course you remember that I had a synchro competition on Saturday because I've mentioned it so much! Anyway we were competing against 9 teams in total and we sadly got last, but all fourteen girls on our team, Clarity, were totally fine with our scoring. Obviously we were disappointed but we just enjoyed being out on the ice and having a great time! And there is another synchronized skating competition in February that we are all super excited about and pretty confident about! This was the best week of my entire life! We had so much fun! I'll see if I can upload our syncrho video so it might take a while but I'll post it on here if I can! :)
As you can see I changed my background for this blog. I just found this background yesterday as I was going through the different backgrounds trying to get something new because the pink one (I think) didn't quite fit for this blog. Anyway today I got up really early and went skating. I landed all of my doubles and did my program a couple times, but I didn't do it with my music. Not much to say today but just to remind you AGAIN, (for like the thousandth time) the syncrho competition is now in two days! Today we will have to start packing for Michigan! I am so excited! Also after we compete we get to go over to our grandparent's house! This will be a fun weekend!
Today was a great day! Today I passed both of my tests! My Juvenile moves and my Pre-juvenile freeskate!! I did my freeskate first and then I did my moves. I was ( I have to admit) nervous, before testing. I wasn't quite sure I'd pass my Juvenile moves, they are super hard and the main focus is power. I'm not exactly what you'd call a powerful skater but I'm getting there! So tomorrow I will be starting to work on my Intermediate moves and my Juvenile Freeskate! I am so excited and happy!! Can't wait to start working on them!! Oh and a quick heads up we have an ice show in 6 days and I signed up to do a solo! This will be the first solo I have done in an ice show! I am a little nervous but mostly excited! Looking forward to skate tomorrow!! Hope everyone had a Happy New Year!!
